Absolutely too funny this video just popped up, as I was just literally going through photos and video, of my wind adventure near the Bonneville salt flats last week.
I was on my way home from a Pacific Northwest Trek, then stop at Bonneville salt flats to check it out. Since it was late in the day and the weather was actually nice I decided to camp in the foothills of the mountains to the north. But that night a crazy wind storm came in, and was trying to destroy my rooftop tent actually pushing the gas struts down and trying to close it on me. ( It is a roofnest falcon and did hold up. ) But unlike your story there was no way to retreat. I had to stick it out. I climbed down from the rtt, hastily pulled it shut and tied it off to the spare tire. Then slept ( if you can call it that) in my driver seat till sunrise. When I had sunlight I secured everything as best I could and drove out to a fuel stop for some coffee.
It was actually crazy windy my entire trip back to Colorado, blowing RV's over in wreaking havoc on the interstate. Working on putting that video together.

I've had the exact same thing happened a few times. I can't stand it when it is windy.. and I also had my bothers and I New York strip steaks Fall in the dirt . So we had a can of corned beef hash that we split..lol
