Unfortunately my local tap water is 500+ ppm. I find it to hard for my plants and I was tired of spending money on water at the store. So I ended up doing a little research and located a local spring water filling station in my immediate area. At 100 ppm it's much more suitable for my plants but also drinking too. Free, clean water from a known source is important to me and should be for you as well.
