IIRC, before the existence of computers, artillerists used precalculated paper spreadsheets and charts that had all possible combinations of wind speed, shell weight, distance to target, and all that stuff, so they knew to put in the correct amount of charge and the angle the artillery gun just right, in order to hit the target.
It was just straight math worked out by hand ahead of time.

AI is literally just guessing, while physics is straight up deterministic. That’s like people in 1960 saying “wow I bet they’re using calculators to solve 1+1 now.”
