The self checkouts are rigged at the Wal-Mart I go to. They always be double scanning items no matter how careful you are. I've had cashier's double scan the most expensive items before. I wonder how much extra I've paid over the years when I was in a hurry and didn't notice Wal-Mart ripping me off.

Kinda fukt how is who you know not what you know. Side note, who goes to court for a double scanned item? Usually resolved in store, attorney fees would be more than the item I would think.

This is why I don't go through self check out. I'll wait in a long line.

How real is this?

It may be fraud instead of shoplifting.

It’s all about intent. Your client knew what they were doing when they “forgot” to scan the item. The cashier’s mistake was accidental and therefore not a crime.
