His recording of the prelude from the 5th English Suite is uniquely Gouldian in its tempo, gravity / thrust, and clarity of voice. Truly astounding levels of virtuosity & musicianship.

Tout ce qui touche la musique de Bach. Il n'y en a qu'un qui a joué Bach comme je l'aime, et c'est GLENN GOULD! Merci beaucoup et salutations de Montréal.

THE GOLDBERG VARIATIONS of course...but actually the FIRST recordings i ever heard of his playing...still as Glenn Gould in being Unforgettable...instantly recognizable after so many decades...: THE Beethovien Concerto in C ..w' Gould s masterful composition cadenza..NONE like it in any concerto repertoire......then i was listening to his others in same afternoon...the Partita in D. Toccata in E minor, and Bach F Minor concerto...they left til today an INDELIBLE memory...unsurpassed, imo, by any pianist in the IMMEDIACY of his 'INTENT" for every note.....i was already learning listening to Arur Rubinstein...and other legendary pianists' recording ALL so wonderful...but i still think..NONE caught my awe as Gould's . and that was in best decades of the Stereophonic LP S with their "closeness" and warmth that no longer really exists except with "added" studio effects....in those 1960's when gould was at his career height as a recording artist. IMO...whatever people say (i AM a pianist and studied played all those works myself..) ..I am ofopinion that..."agree" with his concept or not...as a "listener" just let the music as Gould "exposed is" that is enough to say..NO PIANIST put on documents ever HELD one s COMPLETE attention eveery splt second of the long way..as EASILY and as COMPELLINGLY as GOULD...ONCE he CAUGHT one s ear..whether familiar with piano literature...or PIANISTIC "styles" l...it DREW YOU IN DEEPER AND DEPPER ..only GOULD out of the hundreds of great great pianists ever made me listen and "surrender" ..as much as GOULD .

The Goldberg Variations both recordings, The Italian Concerto, the Cantata Widerstehe doch der Sünde, everything by Bach , all by Beethoven and the Bagatelle op. 126 no.3, the music pieces by Strauss, his Brahms, Ravel’s La Valse, I would say his Orlando Gibbons and Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll… 🥰❤️

Everything.
But the documentary recordings of him playing Bach at home with his dog listening will hopefully be playing when I leave this incarnation.
