Yeah I agree I feel like Buzzfeed, Smosh, Mythical, Dropout is different. I would argue that originally, Ian and Anthony, Rhett and Link were/are YouTubers, but now, they're entertainment companies. I often refer to them as "online improv groups" and Mythical is a morning show/cooking show/etc. The platform used to be a sort of genre too I feel like and now it's just A entertainment platform in the same way comedians can be stand up or comedy actors or comedy writers or improv actors...OR commentary YouTubers OR online improv
Also periodic shout-out to Taylor Tomlinson, the first person from the stand up etc comedy world I've seen really respect and put on the same level all types of comedians like that. Lots of online comedians have been on After Midnight along with stand up comics and comedic actors.

To me, in order to be considered a youtuber, you need to have done all the steps yourself. So filming, editing, etc. Even if they aren't doing it all themselves, they did at the start.

Honestly people like Brandon Rogers are examples of a blending of the two, where it's built around one person like Markiplier but there's also a cast of people like Smosh

i think a youtuber is a person you know from youtube and not elsewhere like actor is the profession but alan fletcher is a soapstar or tom cruise is a moviestar its the definition of the platform like thespian for the theatre

I agree 100% with iffy. Like Ian, Anthony, Matpat, Markiplier, etc are youtubers. Their cast are that, Cast. Like yeah they of course are a huge part of the channel but they joined a "company" as employees already

I agree with Ally. Iffy is one of those guys that can randomly drop wild facts about his life. I’d believe it if he said he used to hang with Chad, Steve and Jawed.
