Dr. Broome: Orthopedic surgeries in general, but in particular hip and knee replacements have really skyrocketed in cost over over the last 20-30 years. The main driver behind that is typically the hospital charges and the implant charges. And unfortunately, no matter what we do as surgeons, we don't have any control over that. And, and so even though the charges have gone up, insurance companies typically will will pay that but unfortunately for the patients, that means co pays and deductibles and out of pocket responsibilities have gone up. One of the other major reasons we love operating at South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital is because being an orthopedic specialized facility, we can keep those costs down. And so our goal with that is to provide you a better quality product, but we're passing less of those dollars on to you as your responsibility afterwards.
