This is an unusual mouthpiece for Bach as it has a larger throat as standard. It was the mouthpiece Bach designed for his own use on cornet. You may not know that when Bach left Austria he initially lived in Yorkshire in England and played cornet with brass bands there. He emigrated to the US from England.

Sounds beautiful and dark enough. It would not scream when used outside loud with a marching band in the streets. But agreed, a Denis Wick sounds darker. However in the few brass bands I played it, the conductor made the cornets (all with DW) "pump" so loud that he could better hear them. This means they got brighter. The endurance and soon the intonation suffered and this kind of brightness is the result of forcing, distortion, overdriving a mouthpiece which is intended to sound dark and beautiful. It's a bit the fault too of playing in small rehearsal, low ceiling rooms where one obtains a kind of horrible"kettle music"if one is really honest about it. So transparency is nowhere and all instruments force to merely hear themselves.
