Giving someone permission to "crack your neck or back" can be very dangerous if they are not a trained professional. Do not confuse a Chiropractic Adjustment, performed by the hands and trained mind of a Doctor of Chiropractic, with a neck snap done by your partner, friend, cousin, hair stylist, medical doctor, massage therapist, or PT. Chiropractic adjustments are extremely safe. Neck snaps by untrained friends or professionals are very different. You wouldn't let a dentist do your heart surgery, so don't let your friend from work mess with your spine and nervous system.
While it seems simple and harmless, there is more going on in your body than just a crack and release of pressure. Your spinal cord, your brain, your nerves that control the rest of your body that pass through the spine may be negatively impacted, leading to long term consequences if not corrected by a chiropractor.
