It’s a deliberate choice! A kids’ sponge brush is large and imprecise, which helps me stay loose.
That looseness is so important—it brings energy and movement to my paintings.
Sometimes, when I’m working on something detailed, I feel tempted to grab a “proper” brush. But I know it would make me tighten up and fuss over the small things. 😅
One of my favourite things about sponge brushes is the happy accidents they create!
Occasionally, I’ll apply paint in a way I didn’t intend, and I end up liking how it looks. If I don’t, I can always paint over it!
