We as Irish, have a huge history . Yes we were invaded and also ruled by the cruelty of the British empire.
This is why we need to recognise this and be proud of it . I'm sure when we do our DNA , we will find out some of us are pure Celts ... But the likes of me , I'm made up of Scandinavian, Italian , Spanish , some celt, . We need to hang on to our language . Even if we have only cupla focal... It's better than nothing .

Gaelic. The irish language is called Gaelic. Scotland and wales also have their own languages. Cornwall in England also used to have its own language though I don't think there is anyone left that speaks cornish anymore except maybe a handful of older people. People from Yorkshire in England with thick accents are almost speaking old English like in the times of shakespeare making them hard to understand for outsiders. Cockneys have rhyming slang that can be hard for outsiders. The Liverpudlian scouse accent can virtually sound like another language to English as well as the jordy accent and when it's very thick even the brummy Birmingham accent can be difficult to understand to a foreign ear, that's what ozzy Osbournes accent is although ozzy can be hard to understand sometimes just because he's ozzy haha. West country accents and Devonshire accents especially rural people tend to sound like pirates, mostly they're quite friendly people though they won't make you walk the plank.

How can you tell if someone's from Ireland?
Don't worry, they'll tell you.

The Duchy of Cornwall is not part of England, never has been. It's a Duchy with it's own Head of State (Duke of Kernow is William). Our MPs sit at Westminster but we have much less autonomy than Wales & Scotland Cornish language, music, literature, Pixies & the Knockers are alive & well.❤

You haven't given respectful credit to the Túatha Dé Danaan, and Na Púcaí

If the milk curdles and my hens start laying out, I'll know why. Pure recklessness.

Its criminal that no one but in the West and Donegal actually actively push the speaking of it. Would remember seeing all the students coming to live with my family in connemara to learn. But this was students who took up the vocation.
It should be madatory in all schools to be spoken first over English. Its wont be long till its not used at all.

The success of Ireland today is entirely due to the British and in particular the English
