Just backdash ss in t7 is more likely to get it due to the tracking. If you don't want to backdash just mash df1. I like to do df1 or mash jab. Jab is also +2 on block. Hop kick is 14 to 16 frame depending on the character and it is a turn stealing attack. Mash magic 4 also if you have it. But best bet is just to back dash

Isn't this a range problem rather than a frame problem? Round start usually has the perfect distance to get hit by a hopkick at tip range, but not enough for s lot of 10-15 frame moves. It's actually not a bad strat if you know your opponent's gonna mash since it also lowcrushes. You can probably mash a faster frame move if it's got enough range to challenge the hopkick (Magic 4 might be good. Itll even beat jabs)

I've been doing that at the start of every fighting game I play cause most combos I practice always start off with either a counter or a punish so I get free damage, unless the back up as well then I'm fucked since the only character in fighting games I play that has a fire ball is ken so I just fucked myself at that point
