Assassin's Creed is one of my favourite franchises, but I'm not a huge fan of Assassin's Creed 2. This very short Assassin's Creed 2 Review will cover why I feel that way about AC2. My full AC2 review will explain everything and my other Assassin's Creed Review will explain even more context. Hopefully the new Assassin's Creed returns to the series roots.

ā€œNever suffered a consequence till the next gameā€ he literally saw his family die in front of him, and then in the next game he saw more family and an entire village die in front of him as a consequence for his actions, in fact, the whole 2nd game is about the consequences of his actions.

ā€œSays ezio never suffered a consequence ā€œ
You Literally watch your whole family get hung in like the first 10 minutes. And get treason

I actually enjoyed Ezio's story much more than Comnor's.

ā€œEzio never suffered a consequence.ā€
Thatā€™s because you have to play the whole trilogy, by leaving Rodrigo Borgia alive, in Brotherhood the Borgia family comes and wrecks Monteriggioni and kills Mario. Ezio also learns that the woman he was sleeping with was only sleeping with him for an alliance. He then also has to give up Cristina. In revelations he loses a friend in Yusuf and a large fraction of the Constantinople brotherhood. Heā€™s only able to settle down when heā€™s old, and even then itā€™s implied that he gets poisoned by a Templar while out with his family. (That or a Templar sits down by him and notices that Ezio is already dying, and just leaves him.)
Either way the Templars were still going after an old Ezio. Which both shows the consequences and that the Templars couldnā€™t risk him somehow coming back as an assassin.

The jump from ac1 to ac2 is so great that it still is my second favourite. The amount of mechanics implemented, movement improvements, a way less boring campaign, the city building is first introduced, currency, slightly more interesting combat, fun and memorable characters

one of the best games ever made. we never really had a open world like this at the time, unless it was a RPG

Imagine a remake of Desmond's story replaying all the games again but in one single title, making it a pretty long game, with each remake being treated as episodes you can play and replay like memories or sequences. You'd have each "episode" in a separate menu and when you access them, it would be like playing each game again with updated physics and graphics, but the same (although updated, smoother) animations and parkour. That would be the best AC for me.

rule number 1, in the AC community is you canā€™t have an honest opinion of any of the old AC games they all automatically 10/10 amazing.

This comment section is telling me that critical thinking when it comes to understanding what a consequence is, is nonexistent. His family being murdered isnt a consequence because its not a result of his actions during the game

I agree and donā€™t agree
I think ac2ā€™s combat is probably the most consistent of the series.
Yes itā€™s dated and at times boring but compared to the Kenway saga and rpg trilogy itā€™s pretty damn fun.

The problem with the later games is the difficulty and lack of combat options, less so in the rpg games due to it well being a rpg but the kenway saga was such a massive step back besides the bump in animation quality

Did it age well in 2023? No.
But it's a 2009 game. It came out 14 years ago and still very much playable and enjoyable.
Also it's a captivating story that doesn't cover the creed traditionally because within it other assassins secretly help ezio as opposed to flock around him. If anything the whole hide in plain sight was done best in AC2 and never again

Remember: A game that revolves around the protagonist slowing learning the fundamentals of the Creed through years of training unknown to him doesnā€™t focus on the fundamentals on the Creed. My point is, thatā€™s literally the underlying theme of the game. The character progression is the best in any of the games BECAUSE of the his Assassin training.

What?! Consequences are everything the story is about! The betrayal that almost ends the entire Auditore family, pushing Ezio to first revenge then the greater good as he learns to think of those other than his himself... Ya the combat is monotonous but the rest is just not acceptable for AC2
