I would need bail money, the manager would need EMS and dental surgery.

It’s a safe bet that an employee set the fire.

You are teaching her how to be a better manager than you if nothing else.

And she wonders why no one respects her and why Emily doesn't answer her phone calls 🤔

I would have been recording the entire conversation, including the part where my first three words would be "FOR THE RECORD," to indicate this was being recorded. That's a pure CYA 101 move, folks! (Also, that's WAY too calm for a ktichen on fire situation.)

I would just walk out. PUll the fire alarm and let the fire department and cops handle it.

I hate employers that have double standards like this went it comes to contacting them on the phone.

Ironic she of all people is chewing the employee out about not having time away from work, which she won’t have to worry about the next day thanks to not telling anyone where the extinguisher is and instead basically saying “not my problem you don’t know something I never told anyone”

Ok, Karen, I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'll just clock out now.

Call 911 and walk out the door and wait, in a safe place, until the fire department comes to put out the fire. And when asked tell them the manager refused to tell employees where the fire extinguisher was.

In real life, these kinds of "managers" are often related to the business's owner, an aunt, say, or a mother-in-law. In the world of small business, corporate oversight isn't necessarily a watchword. Do note that in real life, when an event like this occurs, the amount of publicity it receives (in the papers and on the news) equates to how much the owner has paid off the publishers and station managers. The less publicity, the more expensive the bribe. And the crazy, incompetent mother-in-law goes free.
