Iām using a NEMA 6-20R at my workshop to charge my brotherās Bolt EV (adapted AmazingE 16A EVSE) and use a Philippine hot kettle I found at Goodwill (spliced on a NEMA 6-15P). I wasnāt supposed to install any 240v equipment according to the lease but I found someone had wired 240v to a NEMA 5-15. I only discovered it after frying my 120v worklights so I couldnāt just leave it like that.
Breaker was 30A. AmazingE is 16A. The hot water kettle is something like 12A.

Nevermind the fact that you need to actually rewire the run from the box to the outlet haha. But sure, the outlet is what's making the difference, not the electricity being supplied to the outlet... So there you go folks, just guy buy a $5 outlet and slap in your wall and BAM! just like that you went from 120v to 240v hahaha

This is actually a great idea as long as youāre wiring allows that (dedicated circuit not shared with any other outlets) š
