Easily cured really. I contracted a hookworm after a trip to the beach in Antigua. I wasn't buried in the sand but took a sea bath close to shore and only washed off the sand when I returned to the cruise ship. The pharmacist gave me an easy one time treatment for it. It in a few days it was gone.

That's why my parents always warn me about always wearing shoes when in contact with soil cause the worms can get into your foot. These case is pretty common back then.
