I tend to look at any situation of people saying “I’m working this way to make it to Heaven when I die,” or “to avoid Hell when I die.” my thoughts go to making Heaven or Hell here on Earth with our actions. We can choose everyday to be a good or bad person, and in doing so, we can make Heaven or Hell a real existence on Earth. I’m a Jedi, and I believe when I die, the energy that animates my body will return to the Living Force and I will cease to be, but while I exist, I can be the light that shines in the darkness of another’s life.

One of the assholes who was writing the Bible said to the others, "Oh shit, what if people want to leave our religion? I know, we'll just write that there's a scary place with monsters and fire that people will go to, and the only way to keep from going to that place is to keep believing! Perfect!"

I agree that hell is no longer threatening to me. However, the problem with it is that it chains so many people to their religious beliefs. And this chaining down isn’t from love like all the christians will tell you, it comes from fear.
I’ve talked to christians and given them my reasons for no longer believing and so many of them say “everything you say makes sense but hell is just such an awful place and I never want to go there” and they remain in their faith. It’s literally the opposite of love, it’s forced subservience.
