I've been playing SMT for almost 20 years so I typically jump into these games on Hard now as I'm pretty experienced with these battle systems and how to break them.
While it was fun the past to hit people with the old 'git gud' when the only difficulty that existed was hard or nothing, it's nice that people can tailor the experience to their own skill or comfort level.

I mostly play on easy. I don’t have time to be stuck and trying to beat a boss over and over again for hours like I used to. For most games Easy gives me a decent amount of challenge. I think the only two games over the last few years that I felt easy may have been slightly too easy was FF7 Remake and that 2017 Rachet and Clank game. With Rachet and Clank I beat it on normal. With FF7 Remake I prefer playing it on easy as I feel normal was just a tad too hard for me. Remake’s difficulty drives me crazy as Easy is slightly too easy and Normal is slightly too hard.

Personally I always play on the hardest difficulty available, even as someone who has a full time job- for me the higher the difficulty the more you actually interact with the mechanics. Unless the gameplay is just terrible, I think the easiest difficulty especiallg in modern games tends to rob people of the actual intended gameplay experience. If you dont care about gameplay though, go for it.

Always on the easiest difficulty, and what i also appreciate is that with more games lately, you can just switch difficulty whenever it suits you. I may never use it but it's definitely welcome
