Here's my theory of why gray hasn't really actually died:
Gray has hid in the woods, been alone all the time finding supplies to build a safe home where no one can infect him. if gray had died, it would be obiously beacuse he was finally caught by durple or wenda in phase 3. that's why in phase 3, he has a huge scar in the right ear. it would either had been wenda or durple since they mainly get infected by black, and durple had his ability to be cursed by making himself larger, widing up his jaw even more, that ability caused black to be curious about it and infected durple in phase 3, which durple was not actually infected, just described 'abnormal' due to his strange jaw opening very largely. you may also see simon having like a broken jaw in phase 3, which is actually beacuse he ate brud's 1st skull, which brud had a 2nd skull after phase 3, that making simon eat his last skull in phase 4, in phase 5, brud was finally dying beacuse simon got cursed and bit his brain. in phase 6, brud is dead but still is somehow alive beacuse he still makes sound.
