I can say that our topic today was a bit spontaneous. While I was researching for the content of another video, I was very interested in these cave photos full of deep blue ice crystals.. I really liked it and wanted to show it to you.. While you watch this cave, I will present a few information about the cave and Iceland in the background.
If you're ready, let's start..
Iceland..
A European state established on a volcanic island in the north of the Atlantic Ocean and consisting of many small islands around it. Its total surface area is 103.000 km2. Especially famous for its impressive landforms and nature unlike any other place in the world… The country is one of the rare countries that includes many geographical shapes.. Volcanoes, lava ruins, waterfalls, thermal lakes, geysers and many more.. The number of volcanoes that are still active reaches 200. . Geysers are the most important feature of the island after the volcanoes. These hot water sources are used for heating and electricity generation.
Some parts of the island are covered with lava plains that emerged as a result of past volcanic eruptions, and ice domes called jokul are found in these plains. The largest of these is Vatnajokull, which is also the subject of the video.. With an area of 8,500 km2, it is the largest glacier in Europe..
Vatnajokull cave is located in southeast Iceland, under the Vatnajokull glacier. This glacial cave, which is the scene of extraordinary images in daylight, is among the most important natural riches of the world. So why is it blue and not like our ice? The absence of air in the ice causes it to absorb all light except the blue, thus creating these magnificent images.
I would like to share a few information about Iceland that I came across while making the video..
The surname tradition in this country is really very different and somewhat difficult. The surname of the children is obtained by adding the word "last" if it is a boy, and "dottir" if it is a girl, to the end of the father's first name. A woman does not take her husband's surname when she gets married. She continues her own surname. In other words, in a family consisting of mother, father, a girl and a boy, everyone has a different surname.
It is forbidden to bring horses into the country from abroad. The goal is to protect the Icelandic horse. Icelandic horses that go abroad for competitions are prohibited from returning to the country. Iceland's semi-wild horses, untouched for 1000 years... These small and powerful horses first came to this geography with the Vikings in the 10th century. And thanks to these prohibitions, they have remained almost unchanged for 1000 years.
Another interesting piece of information is that the sheep kept in barns in the winter are released for grazing in the summer. So they go wherever they can go. There is no restriction. What makes this interesting is the GPRS system, which is attached to each sheep separately. As the summer ends, the sheep are followed over this GPRS system and collected back by their owners. What do you think, as if it's a bit of a hassle?
That's it for today.
See you in other videos that we will be informed together..
take care of yourself..
