I donât think one would see the âblack eyesâ during just a normal conversation or an interrogation. They âappearâ when the psychopath is hunting/attacking its prey. Iâve seen them as an abuse survivor. BUT, I donât think itâs some strange phenomenon where the eyes actually change pigment. I think itâs a combination of the extremely wide pupils, the âpsychpathic squintâ youâve discussed, and what the observerâthe victimâis taking in with their âanimal brain.â
In that fight/flight/fear situation, with the victimâs visual acuity heightened and their animal brain going straight to complete focus on identifying dangers and information needed for survival as quickly as possible, this overwhelming and unusual darkness in the eyes would likely take much more precedence in the brain than the tiny slivers of the whites of the eyes that may still be visible, because this overwhelming darkness is unusual and âoutside of baseline,â so in the end, thatâs whatâs remembered. The darkness, not the light. Just as with violent psychopaths themselves.
Anyway those are my thoughts. If youâve made it this far, I thank you đ

I believe I met a psychopath a few months ago and his eyes were only one part of what I noticed, but they are what gave me the chills. Iâm 60 and Iâve been in front facing occupations and social clubs all my life and Iâve never seen such âreptilian,â âdead,â unblinking eyes in my life. They say eyes are windows to the soul and I believe it. His were windows to unending darkness.

I worked with disadvantaged young people for 25 years, a few of those kids eyes changed when they would go into crisis. But I'd of said they went dark. Don't know what it is but it's definitely a thing I've seen more than once. We had one young person who was very obvious and as staff we would yell run! Cause that is when she would physically assault us.

I looked after a man who was 32 years old who had a learning disability and the mental age of a 2 year old. He came out of his room one night and it was NOT him. He sat on the floor amd quickly turned his head (literally like a click) and starred straight at me and his eyes were just black. I ran out the room screaming and had to go and get another member of staff to calm me down. When we returned to the room he was back to himself. Was such a scary experience I will never forget it.

Scott, can you make a video and tell us about the top 3 scariest people youâve had to deal with in your career? Like what they were like in their behaviors more than âwhoâ they were or what they did.. from your perception of why they were scary?
