The beloved Toyota landcruiser has had a long history. Over 70 years, 10 generations, 11 million sold in over 170 different countries. But, it hasn't been available in the United States since 2021 and in Canada since 2016! We’ll, It's coming back to North America as the global market Land Cruiser series 250.

It has great retro styling and if pony up for the First Edition, you get bespoke round headlights, cool dual-tone paint and a roof rack.

Since this version needs to slot inbetween the 4Runner and the bigger more luxurious offerings from Lexus, it's a bit smaller than the last series 200, but with that comes a lower price. Official pricing has yet to be announced but expect around $55,000 USD. It also doesn't come with a big cylinder engine any more. There are a few engine offerings in other markets but the only one coming to North America is a 2.4L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid that offers up 325 HP and 465 pound foot of torque.

The new Land Cruiser keeps to it's rugged heritage by using a ladder style body on frame chassis with a solid rear axle and independent front. Plus many rugged goodies like rear and center locking diff, dual speed transfer case, anti-roll bar disconnect, standard recovery hooks and hitch with a brake controller that can pull up to 6000lbs. But they didn't forget you'll be also crusing the highways and included all the tech bells and whisles like Active Lane Keep Assist and 3dD Surround Camera.

I'm looking forward to seeing these on the road, which should be very soon but, even if you get the 3rd row seating, which won't be available in North America, they won't be the cool rear sideways jump seats from the old Land Cruisers.
