Tight "tät" "taught" holds a lot of different meanings in Swedish as well.. One is dense.. Another is rich or well off with money (being scroogey) ifykwim. Another is that the person won't tell on people. Secretive.

If you said “things have been tight recently” or “money is tight” any American will 100000% understand you exactly how you meant it. “Tight” as American slang meaning cool or awesome actually is used relatively rarely in real conversation
