I remember that in the 1970’s and 1980’s. The jokes that we made about the Richard Simmons types could not be said today, even though they were hiliarious.

I was in the Marine Corps forty years ago. The definition of physical fitness was to be able to move to the battle and then perform your duties when you get there. Nuff sed.

Richard Simons was good for a laugh... Once.
Good to see a place somewhere in between is the norm. (For normal people I guess.)

People train the wrong way and break their bodies or see no gains and give up. Try lifting slowly, take 10 seconds for each rep (for both contraction and extension count to 10). Keep lifting until you can't do another rep then move to the next exercise. After your workout rest for a whole week so your body can actually get stronger. You will notice increased performance each workout, no more plateaus. This is very intense exercise and takes discipline, but it doesn't require living in the gym as it's very quick to do once you get the routine down (20 minutes per week). The key is to reach muscle failure for each exercise (can't lift the weight anymore). This type of lifting is performed by injured athletes, but it's very effective and you'll never get another injury. The hardest part of life will be in the gym, everything else you do becomes easy. Everyone (even grandmas) should lift like this.

Precisely. Shit tons of drugs, godlike genetics, living at the gym 24-7. Normal people can't do that. But hiking, rock-climbing, hitting the gym, not eating total garbage.... these are doable.

That said, even the dude who played the Mountain didn't have a six-pack. So be realistic for your body-type.

Not true! Eat healthy, do you age in pushups every day. β€œ if your over 30 you get motivated after and go harder!” It works every time for me! I tell my self I already stared exercising, might as well continue.
