This is not a “Christian argument”, but actually a transactional Greek philosophical thought (which Jesus taught against) focused on virtue ethics and reward-based morality. 🤓

A perfect example of this is the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37).

What Jesus teaches is that we don’t treat each other kindly because of pending judgment, but because God first loves us, and by showing kindness we can demonstrate His love, and because it upholds the reality that everyone has the same intrinsic value

As a Christian I've never heard that "Christian argument". If youre being good simply because of fear of eventual judgement, then you're absolutely doing it for the wrong reason.

Yes sir! I call it Karma stacking. Doing the right thing may take a little extra effort at times, but you get to feel tiny little successes consistently. Having those successes makes you more prepped for the bad things that may happen to you.

Wait I need help finding a clip from one of Chris’s podcasts 🙏
Something to the effect of-
ask the person in the elevator the burring questions you have inside:
What was the last thing that made you cry?
What is your biggest insecurity?

I have been trying to find the video but couldn’t for the life of me. I wanted to use it for a university project, much thanks if someone finds it

That is all fine until you come across the people that grossly take advantage of you when you are good to them. One little utterance of complaint throws them into hating you.

Ryan is fundamentally wrong about the Christian argument.

We don’t be kind because of judgement in Heaven. Christianity 101 is that salvation is only through the sacrifice of Christ and not our works.

We be kind to others because of the eternal kindness shown to us by Christ. Our example of how to live and look after others as God intends.

That wasn't the Christian argument. 😂 The Christian argument is that we pursue loving others because God loved us first, and we want to honor Him. We're copying Him, basically. And we don't have to--in fact we could never--earn enough goodness to skate through on Judgement Day. Jesus paid for our sins and gifted us His righteousness on the cross. Yay

Really nice atheist perspective, as a Christian I find this a really solid approach to morality

Be kind or the other person will smack you in the face. Simple. Why complicate this?

What if I do really bad stuff then just ask for forgiveness right at the end so I can get away with it
