Our oak trees and longleaf pines are also incredibly wind resistant, providing a buffer against strong hurricane winds.
Unfortunately, houses and pavement have replaced many of the coastal ecosystems that once provided these services. Not only are those places vulnerable, but inland communities are now less protected due to their loss.
As the Gulf of Mexico continues its rapid increase in temperature, this is the unfortunate reality we face: a future with increasingly stronger and more frequent storms.

Excellent info! Our neighborhood sustained less roof damaged than newer neighborhoods because we have huge live oak trees lining our properties.
