Can't believe what Meth did to me. Took my job, my friends, my money, my weight, I spent days on end staring at my bed and forgetting when I last actually slept in it. I lost my place, was homeless on the street in Sydney, eventually ending up in a deep psychosis and highly suicidal. It feels like it happens so quickly and destroys absolutely everything.
I'm about 9 years clean and now work with addicts in one of the best treatment programs in Australia. Roughly ten years ago, I had a backpack and was finding trains to sleep on and public bathrooms to get high in. Now I'm trusted to work with high vulnerable and complex people. That's a miracle. We can recover. When I see people still trapped, I never forget where I came from.

I was a heroin addict from 17-29. Finally got arrested and was forced into rehab. That judge saved my life and I’ve been clean and sober now going on 6 years in January. And while life isn’t exactly good. It’s light years better than where I was or possibly could be if I would even still be alive. 🙏

My sister has permanent brain damage from long term meth abuse. She was a school teacher. Now it literally takes her 30-45 minutes to read one page of a magazine. She used to have a beautiful home. Now that same home is falling apart because when she was high she would do things like rip out drywall, pull up flooring, etc. and never have it repaired. It’s beyond heartbreaking to see what meth has done to her. This guy is going to be just like my sister.

This is so heartbreaking. My fiancé is an on-and-off addict. He's relapsed on cocaine several times while with me, and was off of meth for two weeks when I met him. I never yelled. I never got mad. I never punished him. I took him out and spoiled him more than usual and showered him in love and presents and good food. Because that's all you can do. You can't "fix" someone who's addicted to something, but you CAN love them. The thing pushing them towards those things is almost always pain. If you really wanna help them, try lessening the pain. The less of a burden on their shoulders they have to push them towards the drugs, the more they may be able to get clean someday.
Best of luck to anybody out there who's struggling with substance usage, and I hope you all are surrounded by good, loving, caring people. 🖤
And remember: You are loved. You don't have to be perfect – flaws are what make us human. And you're not a bad person for being addicted to anything or for struggling or for suffering, and all your struggles are valid. Stay safe, loves.

My brother was a heroin addict , was given one year to live . Cutting short to the story , he and his friend fled our hometown . He was missing for over 18 years .
I found him . Clean .
He received super treatment and was vaccinated for hepatitis c . The road has been extremely hard but he made it .
He was able to work full time too .
His story was so inspiring that he was invited to speak about it on French radio .Now he is enjoying retirement and collected enough points for a pension.
It’s never too late . You sufferer with willpower can do it . Get the help .
Failures , expect them but get up and fight .

I feel for this guy. I’ve been down this path; spent 18 years in heavy addiction. Today marks 5 years 5 months and 16 days clean and sober. It takes time and work, but life gets so much better than you could even imagine. Prayers for everyone out there stuck in the vicious cycle of addiction. Help is out there. You just have to want it.
