It's astonishing how well nature preserved a crab that had a really bad day(I am assuming they were killed by the event that buried and preserved them).

I keep finding a very specific shaped fossil similar to that, I call them “dog ears” but most are loaded with tiny fossils all through it- I wish I had a place here in the States to help me figure them out like this!

I was wondering is there a reason why you carve thru the rock to get to the crab instead of splitting it? I know nothing about fossil hunting but I watch a lot of vids from England’s Jurassic coast and they split open the rocks. Is it because it’s a different type of rock? I’m just curious how they compare. Thanks!
