In his most recent FNAF Game Theory, MatPat used FNAF VR and the story Help Wanted from the Fazbear Frights Tales from the Pizzaplex book, HAPPS, to try and prove that FNAF 1, FNAF 2, FNAF 3, and FNAF 4 arenāt actually canon to the overarching Five Nights at Freddyās timeline.
However, there were many things in his video that he either overlooked, got wrong, or misrepresented from both the game and the story that make the theory impossible, and while Iām glad to see that a lot of members of the community quickly said why it wouldnāt work, Iāve also seen many people who were confused about the state of the FNAF lore thanks to MatPatās video, so in effort to inform and to reassure that Scott Cawthon did not in fact delete half his franchise from the lore, I decided to make this video.
I feel like I should say Iām in no way trying to rag on MatPat. I recognize heās busy and getting worn out by the FNAF lore, and heās actually been a major inspiration for me to make content in the first place. However, when heās viewed as an authority by a large portion of the community, itās disheartening to see him get basic details about the sources heās referencing completely incorrect. Iāve noticed that several of his recent FNAF theories have been rather lacking in terms of evidence, even when I agree with them, but hopefully he does a better job of gathering and vetting his information in the future :D

To give the man some credit, he has never liked the idea of previous games not being canon in any way. Even when he did dream theory back during the Chica Beak hint, he said himself he couldn't be satisfied with such an answer and continued to make theories knowing that there was a good chance it was really all a dream

Like I said on Twitter, even MatPat said he doesn't want this theory to be true. So it's best that we should move on for the time being. Anxiously awaiting for Ruin and what it might reveal.

FNAF lore is a rabbit hole with no bottom, I couldāve used my brain to remember all of Calculus or Cartesian Geometry, but instead I have the entire timeline of FNAF trapped in my head.

To MatPats credit, he straight up said that he was on the fence on if he wanted the theory to be correct. Plus as it stands 90% of Fanf theorizing is throwing stuff on a wall until something sticks, admittedly saying that 1-4 arenāt canon would make 5 not make any sense, and ruin the point of 6, which would have to be canon for the series to any sort of sense
