Exactly. That's why strength training is my major focus.

Just saw your stream. Good stuff! 5x5 Strength Training gets straight to the point, and it works! I've gained more strength in three weeks compared to two years of other training modalities. Thanks for mentioning 5x5!

I’m 57yo had a spinal fusion 10 years ago and probably need a hip replacement soon but I still hike 4-5 miles a day, mountain bike and surf. I’m definitely not as fit as I was in my 40s but sadly I’m in better shape than my 27yo and 24yo kids.

I do what I can, but messed up back and knees make it hard to do a lot, but I do what I can. I still walk a lot for my job up and down stairs and such.

Training for strength has so many benefits beyond just building muscle and looking good.

I'm of the opinion that if you're looking at getting better at running with weight or stomping with a pack on, you need some form of strength training. Benefits that regular strength training has, such as boosting your test levels and strengthening bones and joints, can't be overstated enough, ESPECIALLY if you're getting older.

You are never too old to work out and get in shape for any (chosen) application you choose. Excuses are meant for the weak. If you are unable because of a disability, enjoy your couch.

After 40 you significantly start losing muscle and strength. Testosterone starts dipping too. Stay active to enjoy old age not suffer through it.

People tend to forget your DNA dictates a lot of what you are physically capable of and how long you will be on this earth. Some workouts and diets work and others don't. That's why we have hundreds of them. We are all not the same. 300 years ago you were lucky to make it to 50. Do what you can, eat right and get rest. I'm over 50 now and sadly in better shape than most 20 somethings today. I couldn't have said that as a 50 yo 30 years ago. So sad to see how unfit and fat our society has become.
