Forgiveness is an important part of emotional and spiritual well-being. Holding onto resentment, anger or bitterness over past hurts only continues to give power to those events and people. It's a heavy burden to carry that prevents us from being fully present and at peace.
Forgiveness does not mean condoning harmful actions or forgetting the past. Rather, it is a choice we make for our own liberation and healing. In forgiving, we let go of expectations for how others should behave and instead develop compassion for our shared humanity. We recognize that people are complex with both light and shadows.
Releasing attachment to past wounds through forgiveness allows us to open our heart again to life's blessings. It is empowering us to move forward unburdened. Our worth is not defined by the actions of others. We each have the strength within to rise above pain through compassion, both for self and other.
With this understanding, we will use this meditation as an opportunity to reflect on where forgiveness is needed in your life. To freely choose to let go of resentment for your own peace of mind. Are you ready to begin?
