Don’t play yourself. Walking into a dealership with no clue about what car you want and only caring about a low monthly payment is the equivalent of opening your wallet and telling them to go on a no-budget shopping spree. Always do your research before going to the dealership. You need to know EXACTLY what you want, know how much it will cost you after taxes, and take care of financing BEFORE you go to the dealership.

If you want to avoid this situation, start by buying a car that you can afford and researching the yearly depreciation on previous models of the car you want.
