The Lucifer Morningstar statue by Paul Fryer is a striking and thought-provoking work of art that portrays Lucifer, the fallen angel, in a deeply contemplative and vulnerable state. This sculpture, often referred to simply as Lucifer, was created by Fryer in 2007 and has become notable for its dramatic depiction of the character.

The statue shows Lucifer not as the traditional demonic or devilish figure but as a fallen angel, complete with blackened wings. He is seated, crouched in a despondent position, with his head hung low and hands clasping his head, symbolizing grief, despair, and perhaps regret. The figure evokes sympathy, as it portrays Lucifer as a tragic, broken character rather than one to be feared. His angelic nature is still visible in the finely detailed feathers of his wings, but the overall tone is one of sorrow.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this artwork is its placement. The statue has been displayed in the Holy Trinity Church in Marylebone, London, a deconsecrated church. The contrast of the fallen angel's figure in a church setting emphasizes the tension between divinity and damnation, enhancing the emotional and symbolic power of the piece.

Paul Fryer's Lucifer has sparked discussions about the nature of good and evil, the fall from grace, and the duality of human nature, as it defies the typical representation of Lucifer as a purely malevolent being. Instead, it brings out the complexity of the character, focusing on his emotional and psychological torment.

The statue is made from a combination of materials, including wax, concrete, and human hair, lending it an eerily lifelike appearance that makes it even more impactful to viewers.

Wow, I love this depiction of him. He looks destroyed, disfigured, but the sorrow of the scene is still artistically beautiful. It's raw, visceral, I like that

Totally LOVE this & how the artist set it up / envisioned it. And the fact that they used the church as part of their vision is incredible.

Nah bro is gaslighting us to feel bad for him. Tho it is his own arrogance that brought himself down from grace.

To be honest, he actually was given lots of chance. One time, if he want the forgiveness from the God, all he have to do is bow down to Adam's descendants.

Yeah. I still don’t feel bad for the Devil. He made his decision - just a reminder for us to change while we still can.

Don't say it like he didn't deserve it. Lucifer is the fallen angel that defied god and thought with all his pride and ego that he could surpass him. His story is one of failure, not because of a need to improve, but because of a need to change one's nature.
Lucifer could bow to the lineage of Adam, yet he does not because of his ego. He will never change, and thus, stays an eternaly condemned being.

fun fact: the reason lucifer is associated with the name “morningstar” is because he was a god in roman mythology and was seen as the personification of the morning stars. like when the sun is rising and you can kind of see the stars in the sky still. a lot of christianity actually comes from paganism as it was the majority religion at the time it was created and the christians wanted more converts.

Interesting story of beauty fallen into darkness. While I am atheist I do find the stories sorrounding the angels, hell, heaven, and lucifer to be very interesting

What lucy did, was between him and God. Rather, are we right in our walk, should be our concern.

I think despite what Lucifer has done....he was the most tragic thing that happened he had it all and not just for the angels that fell with him.
