Day 26 of one boating tip a day !

Ever since I’ve worked for The Yacht Week I’m just in love with anchoring and tying to rock, build rafts with friends, or just have an amazing secluded quite night with my own private swimming pool.
On a lot of cases this is even more secure and safe as you can get 3 holding points for your boat.

The reasons not to do it though maybe if strong strong wind is coming you rather drag to open water rather than to shore, or if strong wind will come from the beam and pulls on the anchor in a weird angle and give more space for the wind to push you.

*Knocking-on-wood so far other than once hitting my rudder on a rock I didn’t see while reversing to a new spot, this is such a fun and safe way to spend the night, I highly encourage trying this is suitable places.

Usually this is the process, I’ll do, as most times I much rather max my chain and have sick holding (no need more than a 1:7 ratio though)

I’ll find a safe deep enough spot for the boat, with some swing room around it, from that spot I’ll go to a spot perpendicular to the shore where I want to tie the windward stern line to the rock or tree there, that is at least my MAX_METERS_CHAIN, if it’s close to my depth limit than I’ll max out, if its less deep than the limit, I’ll sneak more closely to the shore and then drop 6-7 times the depth, and tie a shoreline from the safe spot.
