A buddy of mine once played a divine lawyer that was built specifically to counteract these kinds of things. He would litigate on behalf of warlocks, against their patron, using divine legal jargon to confuse the patron into making sure the warlock didn’t get a raw deal. I wasn’t a part of this campaign, but by all accounts, by the end of the campaign he had started a warlock Union law firm. I forgot how he set the class up, I think it was some strange blending of Paladin and Bard, ran through several layers of experimental homebrew. Dude was a lawyer in real life so he could definitely talk the talk.

That sweet, irresistible voice, that lulled me softly into the blood-signed contract years ago. I thought I was strong enough to fight it, as I had conquered so many mortals in my path. How wrong I was. I could not fight that perfectly soothing voice, warm as a blanket of flames. I sat like a good puppy, and lovingly took what came to me.

My current character made a deal to collect the souls of those he killed in exchange for power. Nuetral good fighter, but in a really bad spot. He hasn't killed anyone since. 6 months of game time, not one kill. Frequently contact the patron mostly just to annoy them, but also to help another party member with a contract more...punishing.

I am totally stealing the idea of a warlock traveling through the 9 hells to terminate their contract! I love your content!
