I've watched some videos of the harvesting of cattle. The cute little calves after being weaned from their dams will bulk up until being transported and subsequently sold to cattle buyers.
These hungry cows can live a pleasant life until they no longer conceive and deliver a healthy calf. Each animal is required to play a role in the operation of the ranch. When they no longer produce calves or acquire a reputation for being flighty or aggressive, they can be placed on the list for cull cows. Their future can span all the possibilities of joining the ranks of another herd or that of a line of others waiting their appointment with a captive bolt stunner.
Ranching is a business with not much room for sentimentality, however, some cows or steers can take on opportunity of being almost a pet who will always have s home on the ranch. Support your local ranchers. They provide others with some really important things.
