This VERY NORMAL HOLIDAY PIECE started a month ago when the kitten, walking across my piano, triggered it to start playing by itself. This "music", in answer to where she stepped, is uniquely hers, and matches her personality exactly. (Although I guess that part is arguable.) I just took what she made and mangled it as I would a DWHoyt or GWood song. Sorry Kitten.
I did what i normally do. I recorded it, sampled it, put it together in different ways, built some song structure, added a B part and some decorations. It started to sound pretty interesting. That was a month ago.
Fine. Then what?
Then I was at a loss for lyrics, or what it was about. THe kitten had no ideas. So it sat for a month. I knew that if I came back to it fresh some lyrics would suggest themselves. When I started it up this morning, it was cued to that part with the woman singing "What 'chew want Baby?", and that was the start. Everything else flowed from there.
While I wasn't able to squeeze in additional lyrics from DWH, he was inspirational. And we keep the holi-holi lights lit in his horror, or honor. I meant honor.
