I've heard it's more about, over so many generations of living as property and having no say or ability to get what they need directly, women have instinctively adapted using roundabout methods like passive-aggression or manipulation. When your life is in the hands of men who won't/don't want to listen to you directly, these ways of communicating are survival techniques

I've been so afraid of being a nagging girlfriend or wife that I just refuse to do it. When my marriage was falling apart my then husband and I went to couples counseling. He told the counselor that he didn't know how upset he made me. When I brought up times I had told him he said he didn't think it was that serious because I didn't bring it up again for several months. So basically, I didn't nag him, so he didn't take me seriously.

My father didn't let my mother continue her career after having children. She brought this up throughout my whole childhood. It was the source of hundreds of fights every single year. My dad never cared. He just wanted a free domestic laborer. Their marriage haunts me. Even now that her kids are grown, she's just completely given up and bullies him when she can to make herself feel better. But at the end of the day, my dad still benefits from her labor. It's sick and depressing.

Yes! This is where the “Karen” trope comes from. I after becoming a SAHM I remember suddenly understanding exactly how middle aged white women begin to build up resentment and anger toward men and society and start to lash out as a way to gain some power back in their lives.

Agree woth you, but practically how can we replace patriarchal systems, they are ao entrenched of every part of modern life? Or do you mean on a more individual level within one's home? I guess it's a good place to start in any case.

Of all the ways a history of patriarchy harms men having a snippy spouse is probably around #183 on most men's list; right behind the distinction of a woman's shirt and a men's shirt being indicated by buttons being on the other side.
How about, when a man is the victim of domestic violence but survives. That's another way patriarchy harms men.

It also leaves me feeling sad for their wives. I’ve noticed myself becoming irritable, especially when I’m overwhelmed by both the mental and physical responsibilities of our household—on top of working full-time, and actually more hours than he does. This series has helped me understand that, as a couple, we need to make changes at home. Thank you for providing this content.
