I worked in a seafood department and worked with lobsters for decades. Once they get that big and old, the tail meat becomes extremely tough and chewy. At 8-10 pounds, that bug is between 65-90 years old.

The big lobsters are old 50 to 70 years old looks like the meat is tough but they are the best breeders if you happen to catch one please release it and catch three or four of the smaller lobsters

Those giant old timer lobsters are protected. By the size of it, the lobster looks to be between 70-100 years old. Hope you released it.

My uncle would tell me stories of great big lobsters when I was a kid. He, my uncles and cousins all worked the boats growing up and then took me when I was a kid. This was the 80s and 90s so still seeing some of these old guys around is really cool to see.
