A cop buddy and gun guy I've known for 40 years said he's had more guns pointed at him by other cops (negligently) than he's had pointed at him by suspects. He's also a department armorer, and he tells me stories about the guns he gets brought into him for "repair" that are dry as a bone, rusted, carboned-up frozen, etc.
