With the number of palaces I've heard burning down, it really makes me wonder how common it would be to have incidental fires, like inside chimneys or kitchen accidents or caused by goddamn candles and oil lamps.

Frequently the kitchen was separate to reduce fire risk

A few years ago i went to the Jewel Tower (Open house weekend). Someone working there mentioned how one State Opening of Parliament, he thought the flag on top looked a bit dirty and he rushed up to swap it for a new one, without telling anyone. After changing the flag, he looked down and found several red laser dots on his torso.

It's so easy to repeat history, even when it comes to accidental fires.

I thought this was obvious since the building is called Palace of Westminster.
