There’s an expression “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence” I think being aware of things to have gratitude and appreciation is very healthy and it feels good too. We like to use comparisons to sort of illustrate why you should be happy with your life versus others who have more difficult or greater hurdles. We all have regrets, fantasize about what if or may focus on our so called failures or lack of something or another. We are inculcated into beliefs of fairy tales or the idea you can be whatever you choose to be only if you work hard enough for it. Sometimes these things are more elusive or down right wrong. We don’t always get a happy ever after or achieve our goals or even realize our dreams. Nevertheless, we don’t have to have a pity party about it. Having a good life is a relative term. When someone tells you you have one it has a myriad of meanings. They may see things you don’t they may be making comparisons to others or they may actually be envious. We can do better for ourselves by acknowledging that for the most part our life is good-imperfect yes, but intrinsically good.

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

This hit me in the gut. I am grieving a "life goal" that was never mine. It is hard to do this. I will keep on, thank you Lauren. Truly thank you
