The Nick Bollettieri “Killer Forehand” return of serve

“You have the hardest forehand I have ever seen in my life!” - that’s the first thing that Nick Bollettieri said to me after feeding me a shopping cart full of tennis balls in early 1985 the very first time I met him.

He then told me, “What do you want to do with your tennis career?” I answered: “Win the French Open.” He immediately replied: “You can do it!” He then told me. "I'm your coach."

Those first 15 minutes of meeting and being with Nick will last in my mind until the day I leave this body.

I immediately became one of his elite protégés on a full ride scholarship at his academy in Bradenton, Florida along with Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Martin Blackman, and David Wheaton. I'm like the "unknown protégé" and everyone that saw me play said that I had the hardest forehand in the world. Dennis Van der Meer saw me play once and said that I hit twice as hard as Lendl. After training once with John McEnroe, John told me the same.

Nick would have me routinely hit against the top players in the world that would come to the academy to train just so he could show them how awesome my forehand was. I would seriously crush against (then Top 10 ATP players) Jimmy Arias and Aaron Krickstein while Nick would stand behind me on the court yelling "Harder! Hit it harder!" Nick studied my forehand and my forehand return of serve and videotaped it. Everyone back then would be amazed at how fast, hard, and precisely I would hit over 100 mph winners. Nick really believed in my forehand and told me to keep hitting it as hard as I can and never hit a soft shot. What a thrilling time it was for me!

Anyways, what an honor looking back now…I was pleasantly surprised when Andre became (years later) one of the greatest legends and champions the sport has ever known. I'm very proud of him for achieving this!

In case you didn't know, Nick Bollettieri is the sports most legendary tennis coach in history, as he had 10 players of his become Number 1 in the world.

I have such a long story to tell…but since I’m now 58 years YOUNG, I’ll tell it another time. Right now I’m training to play my first professional tennis tournaments in almost 4 decades. I have only started to play tennis again after 38 years! Yup, I think it's time I get back in to the greatest game on earth!

I'm feeling young again and full of belief. On a separate note, I'm seeking financial support from anyone to help me realize my dream - and to inspire others - that there is no limit to age...it's all in your mind!

What's my dream?!? My mission is 1. To get ATP ranked at 60 years old, 2. To become Number 1 in the world in my age group in the ITF Masters rankings, 3. To be given a wild card to play the main draw at Roland Garros (and to finally play the tournament Nick believed I could win), and 4. To play an exhibition match against Andre...YUP!

Activate your thunder and realize your dreams by going AFTER THEM!

I don't have the extra funds to even buy new rackets and I'm playing with 22 year old 2001 Head i Prestige Mids that my brother gave me. They work good but I do need modern rackets to further realize my potential....so:

You're 58 and crushing those forehands like a junior! I know you beat Andre Agassi when he was 15 too. Keep going and crush it!

I’ll be taking some points from our match and uploading them when I can. Some hard hitting forehand winners from me…so much fun! 58 is the new 36! Age is only in your mind!
