When I took my long haired calico outside to see snow for the first time on a slightly warm sunny day after fresh powder fell, she wrapped her paws around my neck and hugged me for dear life and refused to let me set her on the ground. I took her back inside and she glared at the front door like it personally offended her and all of her ancestors simultaneously. She never came near the door again no matter the season or the weather. Outside was the devil and she was perfectly content to stay indoors forever. She was so spoiled and that moment was so funny, I wish I had someone there recording it for me.

My grandmother had a cat that loved the snow. Even when it was a foot deep, you'd see him bounding in arching leaps through the snow. It definitely wasn't hereditary, as he was born at our home in the San Francisco Bay Area, and went to live with my grandmother when he and his sister were 8 weeks old. His sister didn't like the snow.
