I'm still working out on this whole phd student-supervisors relationship thingy... i have 3 supervisors and due to the pandemic, I've only managed to meet one of them face-to-face. All other meetings have been done via zoom, so far it has been great (i've just started) but but it seems like they are not sure what to make of me lol... one of them even said i have such a poker face that they aren't sure if i'm receptive to their suggestions or not, which i am though i think it's probably all these emailing and online meetings which just make it harder for me to communicate and express myself. And me being shy doesnt help with the situation either š

Really like your vids mate but for this one I think what is important to mention is that the supervisor/student relationship is a 2 way street.
A big problem I saw in academia is young PhD supervisors/lab heads who lack management experience treat their PhD students like RAs and didnāt care about their studentās career progression in the slightest.
I have seen and personally experienced issues with supervisors with massive egos asking their students to ātrust themā and they get their back up if their students politely challenge their thinking. Just for it to turn into a mess because those students trusted them.
