For mine I used one of those binders that people use for Pokemon cards. But I took out each plastic "page", filled it with GB games, and they hand off the sides of one of the game shelves. The nail polish shelf is a great idea though. I've also seen people use those rotating clear plastic cases/displays that we see in store for stuff like watches.
I love the original GB and GBA. For me they are right up there with the NES and SNES. Surprisingly deep libraries, and great for pick up and play or shorter sessions.

If you have one of those adjustable DVD shelves that have all the peg holes on the inside walls, you can put a spare shelf in the middle of on of those spaces and it creates two mini shelves that fit loose Gameboy, Game Gear, and NGPC cartridges almost perfectly. You can then line up all your loose handheld cartridges side-by-side like the disc-based games.

I've seen some people make cases for GB and gba loose games out of tape cassette cases. You can order them online.

I do not display gameboy games :( I don't have enough space in my game room for the over 200 GB, GBC, and GBA carts I have, but for the GB and GBC stuff, I have a B-Mo zipper lunchbag and a B-Mo metal lunchbox that I find fitting since B-Mo is basically a Gameboy, and my GBA games are in a Mario Maker zipper lunchbag, I'm running out of room in all of em, soon I may need to find a third B-Mo container, and I'd like to find a more fitting bag for the GBA stuff. I do have an old licensed teal GBC zipper lunchbag as well, but it actually has my Gameboys and cables in it. I'm glad I found the teal one since it matches the B-Mos I have :) oh, and i have a small metal tin B-Mo, not quite sure what it originally had in it, maybe cards or candy or something, idk, but i use that to put the few Gameboy games i'm currently playing in so i don't have to dig through everything.
