I've heard from one of my friends who lives in calgary that the saddledome is one of the main reasons Calgary has the least visits from bands or any events/concerts.
I believe the main reason for this is that the odd shaped roof just does not make sounds travel well, and the sounds are basically dampened. so calgary would be skipped over, and edmonton got more concerts. Sadly, the dome is getting replaced and demolished. i would suggest everyone visit the dome while they can they've begun construction or preparations for a new arena to be opened in maybe the next 5 years (i don't know exactly).

For live shows, they arent allowed to attatch any lights or speakers from the roof in case of collapse due to the roofs shape

Calgary has been denied a lot of major shows because of that. Top tier musicians & such with pyrotechnics and other fancy displays skip Calgary because our arena roof is too low for their show.
