Oh boy, Babish, you sure can hydrate a pizza! We recreated the rehydrated pizza from Back to the Future II. In our opinion, skip the dehydration and just make it with an Ooni pizza oven.

Clearly you rehydrated it at level 6, not level 4

I was excited when seeing this movie when it first came out because of all the future tech but I'm not waiting for flying cars and hoverboards, I want the rehydrated pizza and the fruit growing thing above the table.... That's what I want from the future. 😁👍

Try this using a pressure cooker. You used power to remove the moisture, you need power to put it back in!

I recommend talking to some Mormons. No joke, I grew up LDS and food prep/ storage/ emergency preparadness is a HUGE deal. Rehydrating food was normal. Adding TVP from a giant can was normal. Freeze drying bread, casseroles, fruits, using powder milk, all of that is as common as asking a neighbor for butter or sugar and arguing if herbal tea or caffeine is including in the anti-coffee/ tea decree (though chocolate was never in question smh). Besides, the missionaries and/or old ladies and prepper dad of the Ward would get a kick out of someone ringing them up for recipe tips, though be ready for every invite ever to potlucks and events.

Why can't you add the wet back to the dry after adding wet to the dry and then drying the wet?

I feel like... dehydration isn't the same as freezedrying?

I don’t even need to watch this to know that I probably don’t want a rehydrated pizza

The curve of the sugar in the short thumbnail is very satisfying 👏

You weight it before and after the dehydration so you know how much water to put back.

Why does the rehydrator still look cooler and more advanced than ovens today

I've noticed that something similar happens when I microwave a pizza, the crust becomes absurdly chewy, why is that? And how do you prevent it?
