Similar to chemical oxygen generators that supply the emergency masks on commercial airliners, but these matches use KClO3 instead of NaClO3. We also made a video about those airplane emergency oxygen generators, if you're curious:

Whoops, it should be KClO3 on screen for potassium chlorate, not KClO4, which is potassium perchlorate.

Fair it has it's own oxygen. But you still need heat. Water can absorb a lot of energy, so why does it not cool down and stop burning when under water?

Oxidizers don't give away oxygens (necessarily). They take electrons, just like oxygen does when it reacts with stuff.

This reminds me of the story of a mine rescue. In order to generate more oxygen in part of the mine, a quick-thinking rescuer threw some of this stuff on a fire!

If it supplies it's own o2 will it work in a vacuum or partial vacuum. How about a low oxygen environment?

What is the ignition temp? I'm surprised the water doesn't cool it off so much that it stops burning.
