Neither Rami NOR ANYBODY ELSE looks exactly like Freddie for heaven's sake... Nobody!!! So they hired the phenomenal actor who had won several awards playing in Mr. ROBOT
for several years & Rami acted -. ACTED - the part. If you study Rami as a private person you'll learn that his real life persona is so similar to the graciously sweet & lovely Freddie, listen to the man in this video who hired him. They all put aside hiring an actor like that stupid B movie on TV years ago with the awful casting of the 4 Queen musicians & went for Rami because his personality was so naturally like the real Freddie. He adored Freddie & said he would take the role only if they gave him a full year to study Freddie's videos etc & truly learn all he could about him.it won him so many awards beside an Oscar because he inhabited the role so well. It sounds almost idiotic to criticize him considering Rami's
acting won him 3 major Best Actor awards & the movie made $90 million ! Every one of the producers saw the MENTAL similalrity of Rami & Freddie's basic nature being so similar. It came naturally to him which is why they hired him. Additionally Rami worshipped Freddie's talent & wanted the year to study him so he'd do a good job. According to the executive producer Graham King said that Sasha Baron Cohen looked more like Freddie BUT wanted to play him more like the way the nasty tabloids portrayed him as owing the world an apology for being bisexual & going to gay clubs as tho he owed the world an apology for being bisexual & that offended him & all others who were producing this movie. They wanted the emphasis on Freddie as the genius musician Freddie was & not more on his sexlife. It wasn't hidden at all but it was not the main part of him. His music was !!!! His 4 octave voice, his songwriting, his love for his fans, & his performances as a frontman. But there is nobody that is as fabulous as Freddie. They loved how Rami thought about Freddie & loved him. I agree he wasn't TOTALLY exactly like him in physical size but they wanted someone who wanted to prioritize the "musician" Freddie Mercury not just all about his sexual preferences... Freddie was SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT & Rami agreed with them. The last 3 decades got to learn who Freddie was & who Queen was & how Freddie & the others became such phenomenons. And the music was a character in itself. For those reasons, the world loved Rami as Freddie & all those Best ACTOR & BEST MOVIE AWARDS WERE SO DESERVED. I hope you'll one day agree with the other millions of people who adored Rami in this movie. I feel confident Freddie would be thrilled about Rami as himself.
